Pay attention at all meetings about college information. Watch for scholarship information (Use the internet-www.fastweb.com and JHS website)
October
Take the PSAT. It is very important to take the PSAT this year. It is the only way to qualify for
National Merit Scholarships. This will give you a general idea of your SAT score and place you on the mailing list of many colleges.
Fall
Attend the Probe Fair.
Take the SAT and/or ACT. Decide if you need to take an SAT II Subject Test for the colleges you are considering. Take them while the material is still fresh in your mind.
March
Triple check your transcript to make sure you are meeting graduation requirements.
Spring
Take the SAT and/or the ACT. Check to make sure that you have the prerequisite math courses.
Register for the Kaplan SAT Prep course and SAT online course.
Summer
Take time to visit college campuses. If you are interested in a college, call and ask to be put on a
mailing list. They will send information directly to you. Use college websites.
12th Grade
September
-Attend the Probe Fair.
--Make sure you are on the right track for graduation. Attend all of the senior meetings called by the administration and the Counseling Department. They will give you valuable information. Write to the colleges you are interested in to request an application or apply online. Pay attention to all due dates. Start to apply for scholarships.
-Retake the GHSGT (if necessary)
-Sign up for 7th period classes and/or Virtual School. Register for the Kaplan SAT Prep course and SAT online course.
October

November
-Complete college applications (work towards having all applications submitted by
December 1)
-Retake the GHSGT (if necessary)

-Meet with your counselor regarding necessary second semester schedule changes, and 7th period and/or Virtual School courses.
-Plan for perfect attendance second semester.
-Continue searching and applying for scholarships

January and February
-Attend the Financial Aid workshop . Parents, it is important to complete your taxes early this year so you will have the appropriate information for the FAFSA form. Complete and submit the FASFA forms.
-Get “immunized” against “senioritis” - and get immunization updated for submission to the post secondary institution you decide to attend.
March and April
-Retake GHSGT (if necessary)
-Make a decision about a college based on the information you have learned, your acceptance status, and your financial aid package.
May
-Prepare for AP exams and final exams
-Submit copies of scholarship award letters to your counselor as you receive them
-Complete and turn in Application for Graduation and Final Transcript Request form
