Hope Scholarship

The Hope Scholarship is awarded through the Financial Aid Office of your chosen college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be filed for all colleges. You may download this form from www.ed.gov or obtain it from your counselor. If you need help in completing this form you may call the Georgia Student Finance Commission at 770-414-3085 or join their chat room at www.gsfc.org. Check with your chosen college to see if any supplemental forms are necessary.

Clayton County Public School System furnishes the Georgia Student Finance Commission with a list of students who are eligible for the Hope Scholarship. To be eligible, one must maintain at least a cumulative average of 80. For students entering college during the years 2000 and later, the cumulative average is computed only on the following courses: 4 units of English, 4 units of math, 3 units of science, 3 units of social studies, 3 units of science, and 2 units of foreign language. If a student has more units than required in any area, the cumulative average is computed using the highest grades.

Funding for the Hope Scholarships is done during the summer which means that it may not be available for student use until after the Fall Semester begins. Plan on paying for tuition and books at the beginning of Fall Semester and being reimbursed before the next semester begins.
