What is ARMS?
The Clayton County Adult Role Models to Students (ARMS) In-School Mentor Program is a program designed to enhance the self-image of youth in Clayton County by:
· Providing trained adult mentors for students.
· Encouraging positive adult/youth friendships and support systems.
· Providing positive role models.
· Providing academic support as needed.
· Encouraging career exploration and networking.
Mentor Job Description
Mentor: a person looked upon for wise advice and support. Someone who says “I am here for
you.”
Qualifications
· Sincere desire to be personally involved with another person to help him/her achieve goals
· Ability to communicate openly and to be nonjudgmental
· Desire to listen
· Ability to be flexible and open
· Ability to maintain an enthusiastic attitude
Responsibilities
· Commitment to mentor relationship
· Meet weekly with student
· Establish a caring relationship
