Project Requirements:

You need to dress to represent your country and use a tri-board to present your project on.

Items on the tri-board need to be displayed creatively (pictures, collected items, etc.).  Items can also be combined, like on the map, you could also highlight the capital, major city(ies), and geographical features.  Items to be included on the tri-board are:

  • Name of country and capital
  • Landmark(s)
  • Major city(ies)
  • Famous people
  • Foods (Create a menu for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner with foods from your country)
  • Recreation/Sports
  • Main Language spoken (Name it and give at least 3 words in that language)
  • Important Products
  • Holidays
  • Geographical Features (mountains, deserts, rivers, lakes, etc.)
  • Flag (can be an actual mini flag) Explain the meaning of the colors and/or symbols.
  • Main form of Transportation
  • Basic Unit of Currency (Include exchange rate between U.S. currency and your country's)

You must also have a Reaction Report.  It must include:

  • Cover Sheet (Country, Name, Grade, Date, Picture(s))
  • Reaction Page (What did you learn about your country?  Name three things that you would never forget about your country.  How is your country alike and different from the U.S.?  Would you really like to visit this country?  Why or Why not?  What did you like about doing this project?
  • Bibliography Page (See attached sheet for help.)

Feel free to add any extra, special touches to make your project stand out.  For examples:  provide a snack to represent your country, add music, perform a dance from your country, create a puzzle (word search, crossword puzzle) or fact sheet or cards about your country to hand out.  Add post cards and/or travel posters to your display.  Remember to be creative!

You may also want to write a letter to a foreign embassy to get more information.  You may also find these on the internet.  See the attached sheet to help you.

Don't wait to the last minute to complete this project!  This will take a while that is why the due date is in February.  Have fun learning about a new country!  Make it a family affair and get culturally diversified!
